Our strength lies in the diversity of our expertise and individuality. Rare Wood Furnishers was founded by Mr. Bibhusan Pradhan, Managing Director, and Mr. Tapan Pradhan, Director of Production. The company is now led by Mr. Shahid Akhtar, CEO, who, alongside the team, is dedicated to bringing together top talent across a wide range of fields, including architecture, interior design, and sales, to deliver exceptional results.

Bibhusan Pradhan hails from Rourkela, Odisha, where he was born and raised in a family with a strong entrepreneurial background. His family initially established themselves in the sales and distribution of foam, eventually expanding into foam manufacturing. Demonstrating a natural aptitude for business from an early age, Bibhusan actively engaged in the family enterprise even during his school years. Upon completing his education, he seamlessly transitioned into the family business, playing a pivotal role in its evolution. Under his leadership, the business diversified from foam manufacturing to furniture production and distribution.

Driven by a vision for innovation and growth, Bibhusan, alongside his younger brother Tapan, co-founded Rare Wood Furnishers. This venture marked a significant milestone in their entrepreneurial journey, reflecting their commitment to excellence and their ability to adapt to changing market dynamics. Through strategic foresight and relentless dedication, Bibhusan has established himself as a dynamic business leader, contributing to the legacy of his family while carving out a distinct identity in the furniture industry.

Tapan Pradhan, a visionary technical expert & dynamic entrepreneur, was born & raised in Rourkela, Odisha, into a family renowned for its entrepreneurial spirit. Growing up in a household deeply rooted in business—first in foam sales & distribution, & later in foam manufacturing—Tapan developed an early fascination for technical processes & operational excellence. While his elder brother, Bibhusan, honed his business acumen, Tapan immersed himself in mastering the intricacies of production, showcasing an innate talent for innovation & precision. Tapan joined the family business just after school, where his technical expertise became a cornerstone of its expansion. Recognizing his aptitude for engineering and process optimization, he played a critical role in diversifying the enterprise into furniture manufacturing & distribution. His hands-on approach and meticulous attention to detail ensured seamless transitions and elevated product quality, laying the groundwork for future ventures.

In a strategic collaboration with his brother Bibhusan, Tapan co-founded Rare Wood Furnishers, where his technical mastery truly came to the fore. As the driving force behind the company’s production ecosystem, he oversees every facet of manufacturing—from design conceptualization to execution—ensuring cutting-edge craftsmanship and operational efficiency.

Shahid Akhtar is a highly accomplished professional, born and raised in Rourkela, Odisha. After completing his graduation, he moved to Delhi to pursue an MBA, specializing in Finance and Marketing. With over 18 years of diverse experience in the corporate sector, Shahid has held significant positions at leading companies, including Reliance Capital, Bharti Airtel, India Infoline, Ola Cabs, and Livspace.

An expert in sales and marketing, Shahid has honed his skills in networking and leveraging strategic connections to drive business success. He is a visionary leader with a keen eye for opportunities and a relentless passion for creating impactful, world-class innovations. Known for his bold decision-making and calculated risk-taking, Shahid remains steadfast in his pursuit of excellence, undeterred by trends or external opinions.

Currently, in addition to managing his own ventures, he serves as the CEO and Business Head of RARE Wood, where he continues to drive growth and innovation. His unwavering commitment to success and leadership has established him as a prominent figure in the business landscape.
