Particle Board

Features:

• Made from compressed wood chips and resin.

• Lightweight and cost-effective.

• Less durable compared to plywood and MDF.

• Not water-resistant; prone to swelling.

• Used for budget-friendly furniture like modular kitchens and shelves.

MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard)

Features:

• Made from compressed wood fibers & resin.

• Smooth surface, ideal for painting and laminating.

• Denser/stronger than particle board.

• Not water-resistant; swells if exposed to moisture.

• Used for lightweight furniture, decorative panels, and shelves.

Block Board

Features:

• Made by sandwiching softwood strips between two layers of plywood.

• Lightweight and durable.

• Resistant to warping and cracking.

• Used for doors, tables, and long shelves.

The right material should be chosen based on purpose, not just strength.

Plywood

Features:

• Made by gluing together multiple layers of wood veneers.

• Strong, durable, and resistant to cracking, warping, and twisting.

• Available in different grades (MR grade, BWR grade, BWP grade).

• Can be painted, laminated, or veneered.

• Suitable for heavy-duty furniture like wardrobes and kitchen cabinets.
